Our vision for Serve the City is to see ordinary people make an extraordinary difference because they’re living out Micah 6:8, whether it be donating school supplies, helping clean up, picking up garbage in our local parks, or aiding various groups around the city.
PACK TO SCHOOL, LOVE IN THE LACES & SERVE THE CITY DAY
Love in the Laces equips children who may not have the means to replace outgrown or worn-out shoes for the coming school year with just that, a fresh pair of shoes. Pack to School partners with 1 Up Single Parent Resource Centre to ensure kids and teens have the supplies they need to start the school year off right.
In the previous years, we provided school supplies to kids associated with 1Up Society. 1Up helps provide practical support, opportunities for growth, and a sense of hope to one-parent families across Greater Victoria. Currently they serve over 1,800 families in the Greater Victoria community and we partnered with them to help kids in need with school supplies for September 2018. In late November through December, we reach out to support local families, individuals, and aid organizations through hampers, gifts, and gift cards to The Victoria Women's Transition House, The Angel Tree Program (Prison Ministires), The Cridge Centre, 1Up Single parent Resource Centre, and Sanctuary Youth.
This year, on Serve the City Day we partnered with organisations such as Compassionate Resource, Women’s Transition House, South Valley Park and Thetis Lake for Serve Day on April 30.
Thank you for coming out to Serve the City!
