Ann Wellman

Ann hails from the east coast. Church involvement was a normal part of her upbringing. After being baptized at age 12,  Ann continued serving in worship, teaching and outreach. She attended Acadia University in the Annapolis Valley of Nova Scotia and graduated with her BA in Religious Studies and Psychology. At this point she decided to move to the opposite coast to be close to Fletcher, whom she met at Acadia and married in 1979. They have two grown children - Matt and Kayt (married to Trent Knorr) and 3 grandchildren - Kaeden, Hudson and Harper. 

Ann and her family attended a number of churches in Victoria, settling in Sluggett Memorial Baptist (later becoming Centennial Park Fellowship Baptist Church) in 2000. In 2015/16 she was part of the consultation team to negotiate the amalgamation with Saanich Baptist Church. 

After serving in a variety of capacities she accepted a position on SBC’s Leaders’ Board in 2025. She feels her 35 years of government employment and her involvement on the Board of The Cridge Centre for the Family (a 153 year old Christian organization serving the communities of Greater Victoria) have provided her with a strong governance background and an appreciation for the necessity of adherence to fiscal and legislative responsibilities.

She considers it a privilege to serve with SBC Leaders’ Board, who faithfully demonstrate the value of stewardship - of people, resources and finances.
