The call to follow Jesus is a call in real time, in all of life for all of life.

  • What does it look like to fall into a ‘religious expression’ of our following?
  • How do we combat religious expression of our faith - recognizing that Jesus lived in real time and calls us to follow him in real time. We have the abiding presence of the Spirit who will never leave us nor forsake us.

The good news is to be experienced in a transformative way through the power of the Holy Spirit.

***Remember the same spirit that raised Christ from the grave dwells in his followers. (Romans 8:9-11)

  • What are the areas of life that are difficult to surrender to Jesus?
  • Talk about the promise mentioned 2 Peter 1:3,4

Mark and Peter had similar pasts; they had abandoned the faith - Jesus and his people.

Jesus says he will never back away even when we abandon him (whether through action or our words)

  • How is that good news for a us as broken and confused people?
  • Talk about the scope of the Hope that is revealed in this posture of God.

John the Baptist had a very particular role. He recognized that his role was to point people to Jesus and that Jesus was to get all the glory in whatever he did.

So, whether you eat drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. 1 Corinthians 10:31- 11:1

  • Talk about the ‘whatever you do’ - do it for the glory of God bit.
  • How does that change things in family, the office, neighborhood etc…
