In Micah 6:8, we're told to act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with our God. This is what we call, living 6:8. Throughout the year, we bring different initiatives that give our congregation the opportunity to live out their faith and to make a positive impact in the lives around us. Here are some of things we are doing this year:
PACK TO SCHOOL / LOVE IN THE LACES
This past summer we provided school supplies to kids associated with 1Up Society. 1Up helps provide practical support, opportunities for growth, and a sense of hope to one-parent families across Greater Victoria. Currently they serve over 1,800 families in the Greater Victoria community and we partnered with them to help kids in need with school supplies for September 2018.
SERVE THE CITY: CHRISTMAS EDITION
In late November through December, we reach out to support local families, individuals, and aid organizations through hampers, gifts, and gift cards to The Victoria Women's Transition House, The Angel Tree Program (Prison Ministries), Stelly's School, PEERS, The Cridge Centre, and 1Up Single Parent Resource Centre.
SERVE THE CITY
One of our local mission efforts is our Serve the City events. Our vision for Serve the City is to see ordinary people make an extraordinary difference because they’re living 6:8, whether it be free car-care for people who can’t afford it, picking up garbage in our local parks, or aiding various groups around the city like the Mustard Seed or Our Place.
